Card Scraper: Patron Scholar Edition
The card scraper is a time-tested solution for tricky grain and figured woods. The high angle of a well-sharpened scraper will smooth woods that even your finest handplane can’t touch. Use a card scraper for repairing small spots of tearout, or scrape an entire surface for a clean and tactile surface that’s ready for film finishes.
The Compass Rose card scraper is made from .032” (.81mm) thick American Blue Spring Steel. Unlike traditional scrapers made from pieces of hand saws, our card scrapers are hardened to 50 C Rockwell, for a harder and more durable burr. The edges arrive smoothly finished and ready for final sharpening and burnishing. It features custom graphics and the manufacturing run is limited to 300 units.
*Because of the high hardness of our scrapers, you may prefer a high-carbon steel or carbide burnisher. We use and recommend the DFM Burnisher.
