Quick High Knob (#5-8)

Sale Price:$8.50 Original Price:$10.00
sale

Fixing up vintage hand planes is pretty easy….unless the handles are broken or missing. The front knob is fairly simple to make, as long as you have a lathe and know how to use it. Instead of making a new knob, many folks end up buying vintage handles or spending money on new replacements.

Compass Rose is making it easy to get that vintage plane up and running with our Quick High Knob. It’s a faithful replica of the classic Stanley high knob, but made from durable PETG plastic. This material is smooth to the touch and will never need finish. It’s resistant to heat, UV light, and solvents. Unlike a wooden knob, the Compass Rose Quick High Knob is very difficult to break under normal woodshop conditions.

The Quick High Knob is 3D printed in our Cleveland Workshop. The knob has a very faint seam along one side. Most users don’t even notice it, but you can remove it with fine sandpaper.

If you also pick up our Quick Tote, you’ll have that classic hand plane working in no time at a price you can afford.

Please Note: The Quick High Knob fits Stanley models 4 ½, 5, 5 ½, 6, 7 and 8, but not 5 ¼, which takes a #3 knob. The High Knob is found on planes made after 1919 and fits most planes Type 12 and later. If you don’t know which knob you need, measure the mounting post. If the mounting post is 2 ½” (64mm) long, then it’s a high knob plane and you’re on the right page.

If your mounting post is 2”(51mm) long, then you need a “Low” Knob. Low Knobs will be available soon.

This knob will fit most metal planes other than Stanley, but we can’t guarantee it.

We do not currently offer Quick Handles for sizes smaller than #5, but we’re working on handles for the #4 and they should be available soon.
